Conversion of a roof-space in Hampstead Garden Suburb, London.

Our client owned an upper floor flat in a garden estate block which had an exceptionally generous loft space under a steeply pitched roof. The original timber structure was removed and the roof re-supported by a concealed steel portal frame to provide a new habitable space accommodating a master bedroom, with an en-suite shower room and eaves storage.

A double height space at one end accommodates a spiral stair to the living room below, which now is now open up to the apex of the roof. Great care was taken to conceal or disguise the new steel roof structure create a simple unfussy space with clean lines.
